About 150 people have been detained in Sabarimala as part of security measures in the hill shrine. Those who had no proper identity cards were detained for questioning by the police today, a press release here said.
Most of them were workers at the trade establishments and shops at the Sannidhanam. Those who had applied for identity cards to the Devaswom Board were given two days time to produce the same, the release said. Special Officer C G Rajagopal said those without proper identity cards would be deported immediately.
Stringent security measures have been taken in view of the ever increasing crowd of pilgrims. The police have taken all steps to prevent any untoward incident. A data bank consisting of the details of employees, workers, traders and others who reside in Sabarimala during the Makara-Mandalakaalam period would be compiled, it added.
