Sabarimala sanitation project

Kerala Chief minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate a sanitation drive at Sabarimala on November 7. The ‘Amala Bharatham Sanitation Programme’ launched by Mata Amritanandamayi Matt has been made part of this project, that aims at keeping Sabarimala temple and its premises clean and green.

Mata Amritanandamayi’s devotees from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karanataka have been selected as volunteers for this venture. Besides the members of Amrita Kudumbam units, about 1,000 ashram inmates and students of Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetom will take part in the programme. A total of 4,000 volunteers are expected to camp at Sabarimala during this pilgrimage season.

Apart from carrying out cleaning programmes, the matt will also conduct awareness classes on hygiene and scientific waste disposal.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the sanitation drive at Sabarimala on November 7.
